Nool(Tamil for ‘thread’) is an apparel and home furnishing label tucked away, off National Highway 47, in Erode (prounanced Ee-rode) in the heart of South India. The Nool label grew out of an imperative need to sustain handloom weaving – a craft on the verge of extinction.Nool, or thread, is the language of our existence. From the rhythm of the Handloom to the dexterity of the tailor’s stitch we hope to create a family of Nool lovers who believe in things handwoven, practical and beautiful in every sense of the word.
It gives me great joy to be a part of the incredible journey Nool is undertaking in revolutionising Indian Handloom in terms of apparel and home furnishing. I styled two of their gorgeous outfits from their latest collection : KATTAM
Kattam which means ‘checks’ in Tamil. It is to depict the liberation of the modern day women – not struck in the shackles of her checks – it may be her boxed kitchen or her checked square work cabin or the kind of checks she has in her head, perception, instinct or imagination. Rather She is born to liberate herself and the humans around her.
Kattam is made for the everyday Indian Woman- A woman of substance and a woman of grace and elegance. The silhouettes and the fabrics are breatheable and fresh. Shift dresses with cotton shrugs, Midi dresses with thick borders to give you the essence of wearing a saree without the hassle of actually wearing one.
