The beauty of white is often overshadowed by it’s over powering counter part – black. White is pristine, clean and pure. In a world of chaos white gives you the hope ; hope that if we all do our bit the world will indeed be a better place.
Doodlage uses scrap and waste fabrics to create clothes that exude a relaxed, comfortable vibe. “Indian families normally reuse old clothes, whether it is your sister’s hand-me-downs for the younger ones or using mom’s old sarees to create kurtis or lehengas. Those aspects did have a large influence in my design sensibility. The garments created by us are made of industrial waste. Thus, every garment’s look and feel is different, as we don’t have the same kind of fabric or print to replicate, which makes our product line niche. It’s just the same as being unable to replicate a doodle. Hence, we named the brand Doodlage” says Kriti. ( Deccan Chronicle,August 9, 2015).
For this collection they layered coloured scrap fabric with white cottons to give a textured translucent coloured effect to the garment. Using embroidery to highlight the colours with quirky motifs the collection is understated yet unique in it’s own way.
